Busy with all sorts of stuff…

So, what are we up to?

Well we’ve got a few tracks written now and a lot more in the pipeline and we’re lining up the first release along with starting to think about live shows and how we might make them work.

We write mostly with Logic as that’s the DAW that we both have in common but it’s likely that for the live sets we’ll be using Ableton, Push 2 and a small modular rig for me along with Jon’s guitar setup.

Don’t expect any live repatching of the modular :) it’s just a handy way to put a bunch of essentials into a sturdy case (audio interface, a couple of synths, controllers and suchlike).

I’m also hoping to sequence visuals from Ableton by sending MIDI to Synesthesia and bringing together images and maybe a video feed alongside the beautiful visualisations that it’s capable of. It’s kind of a stretch goal for me as I’ve no VJ experience but it’s always good to try new stuff.

Jon isn’t entirely escaping the experimentation either. On a lot of the tracks he plays bass and guitar parts and we’re scratching our heads as to how this might work live.

One crazy idea is to get a bass vi and maybe use baritone strings for the smaller gauges so that it’s fat enough in the low end for the bass parts but can also be used for riffing. I think it’ll take a bit of FX chain juggling and some serious coordination on Jon’s part but I reckon he’s up for it :)
